With the issue of fish stocks once again on the agenda it is appropriate for us to publish our policy regarding sustainable fishing.

We see clearly that there is an issue surrounding unrestricted, uncontrolled fishing and would be fully supportive of more efficient methods to control over fishing. It is our responsibility to protect this resource for our children.

As a responsible retailer we strive to ensure that all of our fish products come from sustainable fisheries. These fisheries use sustainable low impact fishing methods, such as line caught fish as opposed to trawled fish, and have clearly regulated fallow periods when fishing is banned to ensure stocks are not depleted. We also stock the finest quality farmed fish. Such species as salmon, sea bass, sea trout, turbot, cod, bream and freshwater prawns are all regularly available from farmed stocks.

You may find that some of these ethical and sustainable products carry a higher price than some products caught in a more industrial way. We believe that not only is the quality of this fish better but it is a price worth paying to ensure that we protect this valuable and wonderful recourse.
