Top 3 Smoked Salmon Canapés

Christmas is definitely a time for smoked salmon and our local supplier of smoked salmon, is Bleiker’s Smokehouse. Bleiker’s was created in 1993 and is a second generation, family run smokehouse based in the heart of North Yorkshire. Their ethos and mission is simple, reject mediocrity and passionately strive to produce the world’s finest Smoked Scottish Salmon and Smoked Fish, which is why we are very pleased to stock it at Ramus in Harrogate & Ilkley.

Smoked Salmon is a real favourite at this time of year, due to its delicious taste but also versatility so we wanted to put together a couple of quick and easy canape recipes for you to try at home. We used Bleiker’s Traditional Oak Smoked Salmon but do feel free to use one of their other flavours such as Highland Peat, for a more intense taste.

Deliciously crispy and moreish, these pinwheels are rounds of puff pastry stuffed with smoked salmon, red onion, dill and a sweet dressing of honey and mustard. Add extra filling or try out your own favourite combinations. For the full recipe, click HERE

Have you ever tried making your own vol au vent cases? They are actually much easier than you think and you can even try making them into festive shapes, such as stars, for added effect. For a tangy centre of creme fraiche and semi-dried tomatoes, try out our recipe HERE, or try out your own favourite combinations.

Crostini are small slices of baguette or ciabatta bread which are either toasted or baked with olive oil. Very easy to make at home, they can be used with an endless variety of toppings. In our recipe for Smoked Salmon Crostini with crème fraiche, the crunchy toasts give a delicious contrast to the smooth creamy topping, with the added bonus of festive smoked salmon on top.
