Ramus Seafoods, of Kings Road, Harrogate, yesterday scooped the national accolade of Seafood Supplier of the Year 2014 at the inaugural Food Awards England & Wales, held at the Mercure Manchester.
The awards, which are voted for by the English public, not only celebrate and reward the very best in English food hospitality, but are designed to recognise the efforts of both the restaurant trade and the local producers and suppliers who provide their delicious ingredients.
This fantastic achievement comes in the same week that Ramus launched its brand new cookbook FORTY at the Living North Christmas Fair at York Racecourse. Drawing on many years’ experience in the industry, the cookbook boasts 40 delicious seafood recipes as well as a glossary on the 40 most popular species and a step by step guide to preparing them.
‘There’s nothing better than the great taste of seafood cooked simply’, says Jonathan Batchelor, MD of Ramus, ‘and through FORTY we hope to inspire people to eat more seafood.’
The recipes are gathered from acclaimed chefs, food writers, producers and restaurants who all share Ramus’ passion for fish, with a contribution from each book going to the Fishermen’s Mission charity.
“The Fishermen’s Mission is the only national charity that works solely to offer support to active and retired fishermen and their families,” said Alison Godfrey, Director of Fundraising for the Fishermen’s Mission, “and we’re delighted that Ramus has chosen to support us through their new cookbook.”
