Not only is Baxters of Morecambe the oldest and most traditional potted shrimp company in the country, having been potting since the 1880s, but they are also Purveyors of Potted Shrimp to HM Queen Elizabeth, having achieved a Royal Warrant in 1967. A family company for seven generations, Baxters was founded in 1799 by James Baxter. Its original slogan “If it’s a fish course, it’s Baxters of course” still resonates throughout the firm today.
How to Eat Potted Shrimps
Potted Shrimps are delicious served both hot and cold, often served warm on toast or with a salad and a slice of lemon. They take pride of place on our Ramus Emporium Platter alongside King prawns, Devon crab meat, peeled prawns and our famous roast salmon pâté but are equally delicious used as an ingredient.
