BUY ONE SET ONE FREE! Ramus Seafoods teams up with National Lobster Hatchery

Honouring its commitment to responsible sourcing, RamuLobster BOSOFs has taken the pledge one step further by partnering with the National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow. In this summer of seafood, where mouth-watering English lobsters are top of everyone’s menu, Ramus is ensuring that the sustainability of this succulent shellfish is never in doubt.

For every lobster sold in the UK this summer via the ‘Buy one, set one free’ campaign, the National Lobster Hatchery will be raising and releasing baby lobsters back into our coastal waters. Last year, they were able to release approximately 54,000 baby lobsters into the seas around the coast of Cornwall and to date (since 2000), a fantastic total of over 188,000 have been released.Lobsters-8

“The Buy one, set one free campaign allows us to engage with our customers and show that we are doing all we can to source sustainably,” says Jonathan Batchelor, MD of Ramus. “We will have information up in store and will be making a donation on behalf of our customers for every lobster sold.”

Ramus soNow that's a lobster!urces the majority of its English lobsters from sustainable day boat fishermen in Devon & Cornwall. Dreckly Fish, one of their key suppliers, also supports the National Lobster Hatchery, ensuring complete responsibility along the supply chain. Clare Stanley from the National Lobster Hatchery understands the benefit of working with supportive organisations. “Our work at the National Lobster Hatchery is vital, not only to conserve vulnerable lobster populations in the UK, but also to safeguard our fishing and seafood industry. So we’re delighted that Ramus has come on board!”

So this summer, as you tuck into your delicious freshly prepared lobster, you can do so in the sound knowledge that there are plenty more fish in the sea!
